Today's post has been done for the Paperartsy Challenge Whimsy. I decided to do some whimsy style flowers on a cheap £1 canvas from the pound shop.
All products I used are at the bottom of the page, with links to That's Crafty as I buy all my Paperartsy products from there. Plus a photo of the giveaway is at the end.
Here is the finished canvas. I have a few close up pics and then a quick step by step. I used Paperartsy paints with a thickening gel by liquitex. It makes the paint thicker so you can use a palette knife. It gives you the feeling of painting with oil paint. It does take 24 to 48 hours to dry. I love the texture it gives.
The best thing about Paperartsy paints is that they have a beautiful chalk finish and the opaque colours lay elegantly. I used a cheap canvas and I gave it 2 coats. I didn't even use gesso.
Coat one dry
Coat two dry.
Next I used a stencil with snowflake.
I used beach hut and limelight with a baby wipe for the next layer.
It became a bit dark so I used a wash of mermaid.
Next some stamping.
With my fingers I painted 3 circles and used a stencil with leaves.
I then made the circles a bit bigger.
Here you can see how the paint looks with the medium.
I started with the leaves and used a palette knife. I then left it for 2 days to dry.
Next I used 3 paints with the medium.
Just look at the cerise so yummy.
I used a palette knife and layered and mixed colours in circular motion.
Here is the giveaway.
Right I shall be back tomorrow with another Paperartsy project.
Happy Art :-)
